On American hire cars…

I’m in Seattle at the moment for a series of meetings – I really enjoy my trips abroad, and I enjoy the US – good working environment, lovely people, some good (cheap) shopping, and great food (and coffee in Seattle), but really – what is it about American rental cars? This trip, I have been given a Lincoln Town Car, with all they style, handling and grace of a canal barge. Admittedly it has ALL the features – adjustable pedals (!?) and three seatbelts in the front…but its an almost pearlescent white, and it must be about a quarter of a mile long. Its a truly shocking car to drive…and pretty hideous to look at – all I need is some hydraulic wheels and some Dre playing, and I’ll be fully pimped.

Believe the hype

Xbox 360 Console (Includes: Xbox 360, 20GB hard drive, wireless controller, ethernet cable, HD AV cable and headset)So…I managed to get hold of the ‘next-generation’ gaming machine, released last week by Microsoft. Despite all the shortages, my amazing contacts (thanks unc!) managed to pull it out of the bag, and I have one now sitting on the sideboard at home, hooked to my TV. Now, everyone that knows me – also knows that I’m not much of a gamer – so I don’t know about this ‘next-generation’ business…but I know this much…the games look great, and I cannot wait to test the media playing features, and the online gaming features. I’m in Seattle this week – so I’ve had to leave my new toy behind…but I’ll be picking up the USB Wireless widget for it…and then I’ll update you on some of the extras available. Buy an XBOX360 now…they rock!

An educational break

Some useful French phrases.

Russian Parkour

A long time ago – in a previous incarnation of my blog, I wrote a post about parkour (or parcour), the sport of free-running, or using urban landscapes as a running, jumping and leaping playground. There was a Channel 4 programme, and a film by Luc Besson inspired by the ‘parkouristes’ and some small websites dedicated to the sport – mainly in France. Today, someone sent me this link (google video) to any amazing Russian video, where the harsh landscape of a Russian town become the plaything of three very talented parkour runners. Excellent stuff – with a cool soundtrack, if anyone can help me identify the rap tracks played in this, I’d be grateful.

If found another google video – here - which gives a bit of background to the French guys…

Using run commands from the MSN Toolbar

Inspired by a post over at Lifehacker (which is great reading by the way) – I’ve written a quick guide to setting up run commands in the MSN Search Toolbar (which is free – and works excellently as a search tool for your PC – and Outlook). Check out the guide after the jump…

Bastards!

Andrew Kendall is an independant music photographer, who has been published in the NME, Independant etc – and recently had all of his equipment stolen in a mugging, like a DJ or musician or even a plumber…his tools are his trade -without his camera he can’t survive, so he has come up with a novel way of getting some cash together for a camera…he’s selling prints from his online gallery. Now I could have been cynical and mentioned insurance etc, or argued that he just wants an upgrade…but I’m feeling less cynical than normal today -and I invested just 15 quid in this fantastic picture of one my heroes.

Look into my eyes, not around the eyes…

Uri Geller does web design…I can just see the sales pitch now – “If you concentrate hard on this picture of a ten pound note…one of us will become a little richer”

Whats this all about?
