St Martin Church – sent in 1904 from Kent to Wimbledon in Surrey, although my search skills are letting me down to find out where this church is, another great example of a postcard which sends amessage that today would be an SMS message.

Sent from London to Buenos Aires in Argentina in 1926. There are two things I love about this post card; the provenance of a card being bought in London then sent to Argentina and being bought (by me) back in the UK, and the beautiful handwriting – which makes me jealous. Eddie Lyons (1886 – 1926) was a prolific American film actor, director, writer and producer. More info at Wikipedia and IMDB.

This lovely postcard was sent from Horncastle (near where my mum lives) to Lincoln in 1916 – only a short trip, I love the message from Annie about being bought to Lincol ‘by a gentleman in his sidecar’. Click more for the full message.

Kind hearts are more than Coronets (and simple faith than norman blood) – sent to G Moutrey, Durham in 1903, from Blackpool (as per the postmark) - another great example of the postcard that would now be obsolete due to the text message. Click more for the message.

Long before Jim Davidson came along to buy the pier, and before the flood of 1953 – Great Yarmouth had a giant conker floating in its swimming pool to attract the crowds, as this 1934 postcard sent to Densham, Gateshead on Tyne shows.
