I seriously  want one of these, pull the cord and the camera spins round and takes a perfect 360 degree panorama – non digital, but still awesome.

One of the single most useful applications on my PC is the Image Resizer powertoy, this allows me to quickly resize a photo to send by mail or use in a presentation.

The Powertoy is now available for Vista and Windows 7 (32bit and 64bit) and once installed will give you right click access to a whole range of options for shrinking those giant hi-res images that your hard drive is full of.

I was sitting looking out of my window in my Hotel room (I know, I know…still not at Inbox Zero either)…and I thought that I should stitch together a pano of the lovely view I have from the 11th floor.

Photosynth is even better to show someone a view – here are 26 photos (100% synthy) from my room, stitched together with the wonderful PhotoSynth.

Just before I left for Rome, Microsoft Live Labs officially launched the Photosynth tool which allows you to arrange and share your photographs in a completely unique way and explore those photos as if you were looking at the detail of the real world.

It is kind of hard to explain – so explore my first synth of the Arch of Titus in Rome either by clicking the embedded version above, or the full size version over at Photosynth. It is really easy to explore, just click away and watch how you can zoom into details of the arch.

I took this picture just over a year ago at the Willows Lodge Hotel near Seattle whilst at a team meeting.

Its absolutely simple to set up – just allow your flickr account to be accessed and then enter any mail address and you’re done, it takes less than a minute to do. A moment later a mail arrives confirming you are all set up. Once you have the time capsule running, you’ll get constant reminders of the photos you took one year ago, the more pictures you take the better the reminders – so it even gives you an excuse to take more photos.
