I’ve been posting lightly over the last few weeks, because I’ve been working on a new project which launched on Thursday night. I’m proud to announce that www.shootclay.co.uk is live – a new resource for Clay Pigeon shooters and enthusiasts.
I’m really proud of the work we’ve done there, it’s my first venture into launching a niche site about my hobby – I took up shooting a couple of years ago, and have found it really enjoyable, as well as a good aid to focus on concentration.
Above all else – I’ve really enjoyed working on something I’m really passionate about – a small percentage of people have the opportunity to work in an field in which they are truly passionate, some people are lucky enough to grow passion around their work. I’m lucky to have done both – I’m passionate about my work… and now I have a role to play in a project which caters to my new obsession. Lovely!
Are you doing work you are passionate about? Even in your spare time?
I’m rebooting and changing direction a little bit, and will begin that by paying some much needed attention to my site. I’ve had a bit of a redesign and made some things work that were broken – my DJ Mixes page is now completely functional, with links to all of my recentmixes now available. I’ve added some social networking tools to help bookmark the best posts.
I’m planning to focus my attention a little bit more towards my work – I recently went on a course delivered by Nicholas Bate on Personal Excellence, and he spoke about creating a personal brand, and being very deliberate about the processes you follow as you ‘put yourself out there’. I’ve been quite inspired since that course and have used the summer vacation time to reassess and plan out how I’ll do that.
I’m really excited about this next phase of my online life.
See the little fella over there? That’s me! Well, it is sort of me, as seen from the Xbox, which has just been updated with something cool called NXE (New Xbox Experience).
I booted up last night and was prompted to update my system, 10 minutes and a reboot later I was presented with a completely new look Xbox, with cool swooshing menus (instead of the hated blades).
The most fun I had was building my avatar – which looks suspiciously like a mii – but obviously has a body…
This is me & Mrs Rutherford , ten years ago today – we’re off to Rome for a few days break.
Will update twitter (and automagically, Facebook) while we travel – but the PC will be off while we’re relaxing and seeing the beautiful sights, sounds and tastes of Rome.
This caught my eye on the Guardian website today : A ‘Rutherford’ makes it to the Olympics – but something mentioned in the story really piqued my interest – this fella on the left – Jock Rutherford.
Matt Rutherford is passionate about creating excellent service and support experiences.
Matt is currently part of the team bringing support for Microsoft Online Services (BPOS etc) to the world.
Matt also loves music, movies and design - and can be found Clay Pigeon Shooting at the weekend - and blogging about shooting at the ShootClay website.
How long to my holiday?
