Sunday Inspiration #16

inspiration point cropped

Valentine or not? That is the question today… buried under a mountain of cards and messages or a single wish – either way, I hope you have exactly what you need. If after that, you still need something to warm your cockles – how about some Sunday inspiration, first up – is our music choice. The Hollies – Air that I Breathe, is one my favourite songs of all time, with the most beautiful lyrics:

If I could make a wish
I think I’d pass
Can’t think of anything I need
No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound
Nothing to eat, no books to read.

Give that tune a spin – and then join me for a wander around some great links for this lazy Sunday.

What has you inspired today?

I’ve never responded well to entrenched negative thinking. David Bowie

Have any of us? Positive thinking is such an important starting point for success. Try some for size as you face into your next challenge.

What keeps you positive in the face of big challenges?

Click Clever, Click Safe – now in your browser

safety

I recently gave some internet safety talks in schools – highlighting some methods that parents can take to support their childrens use of the internet in a safe and responsible way.

CeOp – The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre has today launched some excellent code that will allow you to embed a link to CeOps in your Internet Explorer 8 browser.  It is really easy to install and allows your browser to always have a visible link to the CeOp page to support children and adults as they use the internet.

This is important stuff – what are you doing to ensure your family are safe online?

The black box above is an extraordinary piece of art, every ten minutes the black box connects to a server on the internet to check whether it is for sale on eBay. If the auction has ended or it has sold, it automatically creates a new auction.

If a person buys it on eBay, the current owner is required to send it to the new owner. The new owner must plug it into the internet and the cycle repeats.

Amazing concept – I’m keeping my eye on this one…

Here is the current auction. Found on Caleb Larsen.

Sunday Inspiration #15

Sunday morning rolls around – spending quality time in the peaceful eye of the storm. I’m up early for some time in the fresh air, breaking some clays. Then its time to chill out with some great music and some slices of internet based inspiration. Our tune this week is WOLD by Harry Chapin, one of my favourite songs, telling the story of a down on his luck Radio DJ. Fire that up on YouTube and then come back for some inspirational links.

What has you inspired this week?

Muse #1

Penelope Cruz – a fantastic gallery of shots from Pedro Almodovars Broken Embraces.

A Friday hero speaks #13 – Learning

“Never confuse the size of your paycheck with the size of your talent” – Marlon Brando

Give some thought to that, the next time you are pushing for the next grade or the next payrise, the two things are not always related. Keep developing, keep learning and then maybe you’ll be worth it.

What are you doing to keep developing? Is it time to step up a gear?
