This is one of my favourite post cards - sent in 1900 from Rome to Buffalo, NY, USA - I love the opening ‘My Dear Lady Von B…’ and the grandeur of the post card - it really is a beautiful thing to have and hold.
King Umberto I seemed to be very unpopular - surviving an assassination attempt, before being killed by an anarchist on the 29th July 1900 - this card must have been printed and posted in just a few days following the murder.
