Flawless - in more ways than one

January 17th, 2008 · No Comments

They often say that good stories make good films - admittedly that’s a truism, but in this case it really works. Flawless has two of my favourite actors in it, Michael Caine and Joss Ackland - alongside Demi Moore in a beautifully shot heist film set in the 1960’s.

Don’t expect the glamour and fast editing of Oceans 13 for this one - its an old fashioned robbery movie set in a fictional diamond company in central London, with an interesting story set around an amazing robbery. I’m not going to give too much away, but Caine is excellent as the night-cleaner, and Demi Moore plays the part of of hard done by manager in the boys club environment of the diamond industry.

However, it is not just the stars that make this shine - the screenplay is lovely, the cinematography is stunning and the timing as the story unfolds is just perfect. Its an old fashioned story without all the bells and whistles of most modern heist movies - which unfortunately means it will get missed by most people, don’t be one of them
