What a piece of crap…I just dropped onto gmail (where I moved all my email accounts some time back) and someone pinged me for a chat on googletalk - and whilst I know it’s still in beta (which Google products aren’t), it is an absolute shocker. Very limited features, and chronic latency which I don’t see from any other web based product I use - even dropping keystrokes in messages. Very unsatisfying - I shall be avoiding googletalk like the plague!
Googletalk - disappointing…

I assume you are speakign of the stand alone client. Being a Mac user I can only use gtalk with Firefox or a third party app, but neither has given me any problem. I can’t stand having multiple chat clients open, so I use Adium and it works brilliantly with gtalk… and Y! and MSN, and AIM, etc. However the other IM protocols all have MUCH more invasive TOS agreements, so I am glad gmail is around. I am slowly weening myself from AIM, and I have dropped Y! completely.
Hope you are well!
