especially if you happened to be trapped in a cinema and forced to watch the new Vin Diesel film - The Pacifier. I shouldn’t be so harsh really, it was indeed very funny - if completely predictable in its script and ending. Its a disney film, so you cannot expect too much off the beaten track. Vin Diesel plays a navy seal who gets disgraced, and subsequently assigned to a job looking after a family of 4 kids whose father had died leaving a national security secret buried under his house!
There is much to be written about such a situation, and they manage to cover it all admirably - including the obligatory ’soldier changing diaper’ scene which is handled with miltary dignity, and a some great scenes around driving. Vin Diesel plays it well - not losing too much of his hardman tag, whilst seeming to walk the narrow path of Arnold (think Kindergarten Cop)…but utlimately, its a light comedy played by a hard man. Great for 90 minutes of entertainment - but never a classic. 5/10.
