Lets bring this one home…

Watched Hostage during my trip to Paris – this is the new Bruce Willis movie where he plays a hostage negotiatior, who loses the plot and ends up being the sherriff of a small town. Its obvious whats going to happen next, as a what seems like a small time robbery goes horribly wrong, and ends up with a wealthy businessman being held hostage. Theres an almighty twist – and Bruce Willis ends up personally involved, and calling on his old skills as a negotiator.

Its a clever film which recalls Willis’ days as an action hero quite well – but apart from one or two sequences, doesn’t see him running around shooting people too much – its much more character led than some of his Die Hard roles, and theres some clever touches in the script. Its well shot and acted – and moves along quickly enough to be taut and gripping. Enjoyable. 7/10.
