Royksopp – The Understanding

Royksopp.jpgJust listened to the new album by Royksopp – The Understanding, what an excellent piece of work. Picking up where they left off with the brilliant Melody AM, they delivered a nicely rounded package of chilled out tunes, combined with a fair amount of deep shuffly house. Once again they’ve picked up some amazing (relatively unknown) vocalists to add to the mix (this is the group that led me to the amazing Erlend Oye). Standout tracks for me, are the opener – Triumphant, and Alpha Male, which is a clever building track that reminds me of 80′s space rock along the way. Excellent album – if you liked Melody AM, then you’ll love this.

    I also got the chance to listen to the new album, but i find it a bit disappointing. NOT because i expected Melody A.M. version 2.0, it just leaves me indifferent. A lot of the songs sounds like Pet Shop Boys, Alpha Male is Jean Michel Jarre revisited, and Dead To The World is Bent. Only on a few tracks (like Triumphant & Only This Moment) I can hear what’s left of Röyksopp.

    No conocia este grupo hasta que alguien en un chat me lo comentó, entences pude escuchar el tema WHAT ELSE IS THERE. Creo que es de lo mejor que he oido nunca, y ahora pienso que estoy en disposición de recomendar sus trabajos, merece la pena ser escuchados.
